Alaska Airlines launches service between Boise and Seattle on Sunday with a $39 fare inaugural fare.
Alaska will operate two daily flights with 140-seat Boeing MD-80 aircraft. The Alaska flights replace three flights currently operated by its sister carrier, Horizon Air. Horizon will continue to operate five daily flights with 70-seat aircraft.
The change results in a 12-percent increase in the number of seats between the two cities.
"Working with Horizon, we can serve more customers and optimize the use of Alaska and Horizon aircraft in this market," said Gregg Saretsky, Alaska's executive vice president of marketing and planning. "Passengers will continue to enjoy the same excellent service they are accustomed to."
Alaska and Horizon are offering an inaugural fare of just $39 each way, based on roundtrip purchase. Tickets must be purchased by June 19 and travel completed by November 19. The fare is valid for travel Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday and requires a seven-day advance purchase. Tickets can be changed for $50 plus any applicable changes in fare. Seats are limited and may not be available on all flights. Sale fares also require a Friday or Saturday-night stay and do not include airport passenger-facility charges of up to $18 depending on itinerary and the federal segment tax of $3 per takeoff and landing.
Alaska has operated a reservation center in Boise since March 2001.
