Pilots (first officers)
As a first officer, you work one-on-one with captains and flight attendants during all phases of aircraft operation. You are trained and checked on a recurrent basis to remain proficient in the safe operation of Horizon Air aircraft. You comply with all Federal Aviation Administration regulations and requirements. You work in a technical, complex and demanding environment involving the use of high-technology aviation tools, including heads-up guidance, FMS and RNP approaches.
A few of the minimum requirements include: 750 hours total flight time and 50 hours of multi-engine flight time, with a minimum of 60 hours flown in the last 6 months. You must hold a current class FAA medical certificate. You must have the ability to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends, holidays and overnight trips. You must possess a passport or appropriate travel documentation and be authorized to work in the United States. Strongly preferred requirements include: 1,000 hours total flight time, 100 hours of multi-engine flight time, and a college degree (B.A. or B.S.).
Flight attendants
As a flight attendant, you work one-on-one with our passengers during all phases of air travel. You monitor all
safety conditions and emergency equipment of our aircraft. You comply with all Federal Aviation Administration
regulations and requirements. A few of the minimum requirements include: a high school diploma or equivalent, a
minimum age of 19, living in or having the ability to relocate to either of our crew base cities (Seattle and
Portland), and a minimum of two years customer service experience. You must have the ability to work a flexible
schedule that encompasses weekends, holidays and overnight trips. You must be authorized to work in the United
States. You must be no taller than 6 feet with shoes. You must have the ability to consistently lift 25 pounds and
maneuver 42 pounds.
Passenger service agents
As a passenger service agent, you work in our larger hub locations (Seattle, Spokane, Portland or Boise) and provide
frontline customer service to our passengers. You work directly with passengers in ticket purchases, check-in and flight
boarding. Each of these duties involves the heavy use of a computer-based reservations program.
Ground service agents
As a ground service agent, you work in our larger hub locations (Seattle, Spokane, Portland or Boise). You work outdoors
in all types of weather conditions, while remaining focused on safely performing your duties. These outdoor duties
include baggage and cargo handling, aircraft marshaling, and aircraft de-icing.
Customer service agents
As a customer services agent, you provide frontline customer service to our passengers in some of our smaller stations.
You work directly with passengers in ticket purchases, check-in and flight boarding. Each of these duties involves heavy
use of a computer-based reservations program. In addition, you often work outdoors in all types of weather conditions on
baggage and cargo handling, aircraft marshaling, and aircraft de-icing. At some locations, you might also perform
reservations functions.
Food and beverage agents
As a food and beverage agent, you stock and transport pre-packaged service items between the warehouse and aircraft,
often under a tight deadline. You perform inventory, and have shipping and receiving duties. Your work environment is
fast-paced. You must have a high school diploma or equivalent, be at least 18 years of age, have a valid driver ’
s license with a good driving record, have the ability to consistently lift an average of 40 pounds, and be authorized
to work in the United States.
Mechanics
As a mechanic, you perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on Horizon's fleet of Bombardier aircraft (CRJ-700s,
Q400s and Q200s). All work is accomplished in accordance with company procedures, the manufacturer’s manuals, and
FAA requirements to ensure safety and airworthiness parameters. Requirements specific to this position are A&P
certification, valid driver's license with a good driving record, and your own complement of basic hand tools.
Reservations sales agents
As a reservations sales agent, you respond to incoming phone calls and fulfill computer reservation requests from
customers. You book reservations, assist with reservation changes, and provide fare information. You must have a high
school diploma or equivalent, be at least 18 years of age, and be friendly, knowledgeable and polite in all situations.
You must also be able to type 25 words per minute, demonstrate computer proficiency, and be authorized to work in the
United States.
