Alaska Airlines Pilots To Participate In Black History Month Panel At Seattle Museum Of Flight

Alaska Airlines Captains Harold "Mitch" Mitchell and Mike Swanigan will help celebrate Black History Month by participating in a panel discussion Saturday at the Seattle Museum of Flight. The panel will highlight the contributions of African-Americans to the development of aeronautics and astronautics.

Joining them on the panel will be Lt. Col. Quentin Glenn, commander of the 97th Airlift Squadron at McChord Air Force Base.

In addition to flying for Alaska Airlines, Mitchell serves as a brigadier general in the Air Force Reserve. Swanigan is a 24-year Alaska pilot and former chief pilot and vice president of flight operations for the airline.

The event is slated for Feb. 2 at 2 p.m. in the William M. Allen Theatre. The program is free with museum admission.
